Star Wars comes to the French Alps (sort of…)

Star Wars type Drone Racing, its a thing now!

Remote controlled aerial drones are becoming somewhat ‘commonplace’ with photographers and videographers more and more. On the BBC tech show ‘Click‘,  host Spencer Kelly show us something that now takes place in the French Alps and is akin to the Pod-Racing in the Star Wars movies without the crashes and the injuries but with all the drama.

Adobe and the future.

Is this the future of Photoshop and other Adobe products?

The goliath that is Adobe has released a video of what they believe the future of their products may look like. Is this the future of Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere? Suffice to say, I would not be writing a post about this unless I thought it worthy. Oh boy, is it worthy.

If Adobe managed to bring a fraction of what is contained in the video to life, I would be ecstatic! It really is the stuff of science fiction. This is the kind of thing you might currently only see in movies set in the future. It is the stuff of wizardry and sorcery but I have no doubt, that at the rate technology is advancing, we will see some, if not all, of these things on a tablet near you soon.

Take a look and be amazed. Needless to say, I want all of them NOW!

GoPro HERO4 with 4K Up to 30fps announced for October

GoPro HERO4 with 4K Up to 30fps announced for October

GoPro HERO4 is here! And it’s the first to shoot 4k at 30 FPS!

GoPro Silver Edition Back of the silver gopro 4 GoPro Hero 4 The back of the GopPro 4 Black Edition

Firstly the glorious specifications, that are important:

  • 4K Up to 30fps
  • 2.7K 50fps
  • 1440p 80fps
  • 1080p 120fps
  • 960p 120fps
  • 720p 120fps (PetaPixel is reporting that it won’t do 240fps)
  • Ultra Wide, Medium, and Narrow Settings for Lens
  • Manual controls for ISO, Exposure, Color
  • Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth
  • Mark key moments in footage for later
  • Touchscreen Display
  • 4K Up to 15fps
  • 2.7K 30fps
  • 1440p 48fps
  • 1080p 60fps
  • 960p 100fps
  • 720p 120fps
  • 12MP Photos at 30fps
  • It seems the rest of the features will match the Black Edition (unclear on manual controls but I would expect it to have them as well)

Is it just me or is all that stuff in something so small not just mind-blowing? Anyway, supposedly available in both silver and black, the camera is purportedly going on sale at the beginning of October. Around the 8th we here! Nobody knows how much as yet.

The GoPro has come along way since its first model. Perhaps not in appearance but most definitely in specs. Apparently all the ‘old’ accessories that you may have or may have thought about buying will fit the new GoPro Hero 4. Thats a relief for people like me who has any number of clamps and suction cups and grips and other bits and bobs.

If you want to check out the GoPro site itself, you can have a look at it here and if you are interested in seeing what kind of footage this wonderfully small but brilliant little camera, you can check out the company YouTube Channel by clicking here.
